Dear All,
As the holidays draw near, there are always difficult times and needs that we must cope with. We hope that some of our information and outreach will help to ease you through these times. Coming together during this time can bring comfort and healing.
We want to extend an invitation to our Annual Memorial Service on Oct. 26 at 3 pm and our Women's Candlelighting Service on November 19. During the candlelighting, we will be decorating our memorial tree that will be given to a local hospital or charity. We have supportive coping ideas online and our forum moderators are there to help as they always are. Click on icon to visit page...

SA Memorial Service at our beautiful Angel Garden-Email Marcia to include baby's name in written and spoken litany
Our members (Julie Franklin, Angela Johnson, Shakina and Eric Williams, Robin and John Cash, Donna Morgan, Maya Smith, Coretta Monroe, Valerie and Pete Scholovich, Jamila and Kevin Houser, and others) will read their poems and thoughts, share unique mementos, and light our memorial candle during this time of gentle music, litany of our babies' names, rose petals, and a special ceremony of sharing. This year, Amanda and John Flatt have provided us with beautiful butterfly mementos. We always have family and friends join us for this wonderful program because it is so comforting. Many often come from out of town.
We join together to remember, honor, and celebrate our baby's short presence with us and the love we will have for our child - forever. We recognize October as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and move into our participation with our memorial tree and annual Women's Candlelighting. Our "Walk to Remember" is held during our annual March of Dimes in April since we "March in memory and honor of our babies." We will have Awareness Pins available during the service and at our Women's Group.

SHARE Atlanta's Annual Memorial Tree decorated at our annual Women's Candlelighting...
SA's 2008 memorial tree
At our 2007 Women's Candlelighting, we decorated our annual memorial tree to place at Piedmont Hospital. SA member, Julie Franklin, took our tree to the annual Piedmont Memorial Gathering at Piedmont. We gathered some of our handmade fleece blankets around the base of our tree for the tree skirt. Piedmont used our tree last year and will use it each following year for their annual memorial service for those parents who have experienced a pregnancy or newborn loss. The tree will also be placed in the nurses' station. There will be a framed listing of all of our babies' names while it is in the chapel for the service. Julie has found this beautiful quote to include on the frame and maybe on the tree: "perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy....."

We will be decorating a memorial tree in memory of our babies again this year at our Women's Candlelighting. We have not decided where it will be placed, but will soon. Please bring an ornament that you would like to place on our tree in memory of your baby (babies) and include your baby's name so we can place it on the litany that will be with our tree. An ornament that goes with the theme "Forever in our Hearts" will be very special. (Angels, hearts, or an ornament that reminds you of your baby is perfect. You might consider buying one for yourself to keep, too.)
Our baby's gifts may lead to new horizons for support and healing. They also may lead to new ways of making a living. On our website, we have a page dedicated to some of our parent's new venues that are a direct response to their walk to heal after the death of their baby. I will be adding members as I am aware of new ventures. Please visit and learn about Betty Miller's books, Hayden and Maria Elie's "Rachael Retreat" Kim Shifltett's memorial jewelry, Allysa's dolls, and Robin Clay's book. We each find ways to heal. We each find ways to make our children's lives meaningful. We embrace every person's efforts. If you have an appropriate mission to add, please let me know.
Many of these venues also will provide ways for coping through the holidays. Visit the pages and speak with our members. They will understand.

Each time as we come together ~
We hope that these special services, activities such as our memorial tree and our meetings - all in memory of all of our babies, help to bring you hope, peace and continued healing. As we share together, we know that the love we feel for our children will be forever in our hearts.
Take care,
Marcia
The love stays...forever in our hearts.
