October ~ Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

SHARE Atlanta replaced the gravel walk
in front of our bench and garden
with the "name & memory" brick pathway!

The Dunwoody Crier, our local newspaper covered, by Mary Welch, our dedication headlined us on the front page:

"Pathway of Healing" dedicated...A Focal Point for Grief"

"Dunwoody's Marcia McGinnis spoke to more than 100 people gathered at Arlington Memorial Park for the third annual memorial service of SHARE Atlanta.

"The Pathway of Healing" at the cemetery offers parents who have lost babies a place in which to record their sentiments. The parents at Sunday's memorial service all received a rose to commemoriate infants lost at birth or through miscarriage.

We thank them for such a wonderful coverage which included a story about Marcia, the beginning of SHARE Atlanta, and what our group does...plus two colored pictures!

The Program...

It was definitely a beautiful fall day and so many ways!

The weather was wonderful, the atmosphere peaceful and the pathway just about perfect! We had lots of special people come join us...parents, grandparents, family members and friends - from all over Georgia. Some were from Florida and we had "old SHARE members" from as long ago as 1984 through the present! It felt like a family reunion in so many ways...

Mary Joe Hannaford's Poem and Six SHARE Atlanta Parents share their thoughts

There was a reading of Mary Joe Hannaford's poem(as usual) and six parents shared their writings.

The highlight was Jennifer's sharing of her reasons for working towards the completion of the pathway. She then dedicated the long awaited path!

Litany of Babies' Names and "I will Remember You"

Steve M. and Lynne A. read each baby's name and every parent received an imprinted card and a white rose. A lovely part of the service was Nicole Craft's singing of "I will Remember You" while Nicole S. signed it.

Many hugs and thoughts were shared by all. There were programs to take home as mementos. A reception followed at our home. Marcia
